About Us

A love letter to Britain's period homes.

Period Cottages began with a simple frustration: that the most beautiful, characterful homes in Britain were impossible to find. Lost in an endless scroll online. We set out to change that, bringing our dream cottages all in one place.

A period cottage is not simply an old house. It is a record: of the people who built it, the craft they used, the landscape they built it into. The honey stone of a Cotswold weaver's cottage, the timber frame of a Suffolk hall house, the whitewash of a Cornish harbour home: each speaks of a particular place and time.

When we find one worth knowing, we help tell its story, because these houses deserve to be found by someone who will love them.

Our approach

01

Character first

We list only cottages with genuine architectural or historic interest: the crooked, the beamed, the thatched and the lime-washed.

02

Rooted in place

A cottage is inseparable from its village, its landscape and its weather. We choose homes that belong somewhere, and give you a flavour of what it is like to live there.

03

Beautifully presented

Considered words, careful presentation, and the time each house deserves. We show every cottage the way it should be seen.

Have a cottage of your own?

We are always looking for the next house worth telling a story about.
